R&B Orchestra – Classics in the City – Monastery, Manchester

Sharing is caring!

This show was a returning visit to the Monastery in Manchester, for another Classics in the City tour performance with the R&B Orchestra. Our production included sound, lighting and stage risers for the band.

The uneven floor of the venue’s stage area meant the use of adjustable legs in order to achieve level risers for the drums and string sections. The uneven floor is a result of a crypt beneath the space having partly collapsed in years previous. It gives the space an eerie feeling for sure!

Our sound deployment on this show included GTS19 single 19″ subwoofers, GTX10 line array modules and GT8 point source speakers. All controlled and monitored through RDnet. Mixing consoles for the show were Midas M32 at monitors, stage left, with an M32R running at FOH. The consoles were running linked via AES50 protocol, with the M32 at the stage end being clock master and head-amp control.

The lighting deployment included a variety of static and moving head fixtures. With a Chamsys MQ500 with Genetix GN10 running via Art-Net for control. The setup was designed to enhance both the visual presentation and the overall audience experience within the unique setting of the venue.
