It is always a privilege to provide sound engineering for Live in the House. Not only is the venue beautiful and acoustically suited to music, it also provides us the opportunity with working with a variety of quality musicians.
This evening’s gig was no different and featured a performance from Wolverhampton based Scott Matthews. The singer songwriter won an Ivan Novello award back in 2007, for his song Elusive, and from that point has gone from strength to strength. He has been gigging worldwide, both playing solo and with a band.
This evening’s gig was him playing solo. His unique setup for his guitar splits the sound of his acoustic between an acoustic amplifier and an effected sound fed to an electric amplifier. This combination and his personal selection of guitar effects pedals, along with his distinctive melancholic vocal style, creates a hypnotic and mesmerising quality that the full to the brim audience lapped up.
