One of the most enjoyable aspects of sound engineering is the variety of genres of musicians we get to work with. It is always inspiring to meet talented artists, especially if you were not aware of them before.
This gig turned out to be one of those moments. The venue is a beautiful spot tucked away down by the canal at Norbury Junction, called The Junction Inn. The gig was a fund raising charity event for the Shrewsbury & Newport Canal Trust and the organiser, Sean, had managed to book a Canadian artist called Reid Jamieson.
In this country he is a little lesser known, but back in Canada he is quite the star. An award winning and accomplished folk song writer, Reid was accompanied by his wife and musical partner Carolyn Mill. This was their first gig, of their very first UK tour, and we are proud to have been involved.
We provided a modest setup of our Vocal PA System, along with some simple lighting and of course one of our engineers for the evening. It was a fantastic night of excellent music and performance, with an appreciative audience. Nights like that are why we enjoy this job so much.
